Welcome to ID4Africa
Founded in 2014, ID4Africa is the only Pan-African Movement that is dedicated to assisting African nations build strategic capacity needed for developing robust and responsible identity ecosystems in the service of development and humanitarian action.
Motivation
Our
Since inception, ID4Africa has been driven by the need to establish identity-for-all, not just as a legal right (consistent with SDG 16.9), but also as a practical necessity for access to services. The Movement believes inclusive identity schemes built on the respect of privacy and humanitarian rights are essential for economic growth and for digital transformation of government.
Community &
Culture
Strong
Having established and maintained a connected and active identity community, ID4Africa has made significant impact on the direction of identity matters across Africa. The Movement leverages its convening power and develops its community and capacity-building content through its two major platforms for crowd-sourced knowledge production and dissemination: A physical general meeting which unites the global ID4D community in a different African country each year, and a virtual platform known as LiveCasts which engages the community several times a year to address pertinent and timely issues, producing episodes for thematic best practices and guidance.
ID4AFRICA LIVECASTS
ID4Africa LiveCasts are expert-led episodes of knowledge exchange that provide factual, in-depth, and current sources of insights on identity matters in and beyond Africa. Hosted by Dr. Joseph Atick they feature frontline decision-makers from relevant stakeholder sectors who discuss the status, priorities, and lessons learned in the context of ID4D in Africa.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETINGS
The ID4Africa Annual General Meeting (AGM) stands as the premier platform for peer learning and sharing of best practices and experiences in the African and global identity community. Its purpose is to foster meaningful dialogues among diverse and relevant stakeholders. The AGM features a dynamic program centered on an evolving theme that mirrors Africa’s ID4D priorities. This unique program is meticulously crafted over 10 months through a crowdsourced process, delving deeply into the specific needs of individual African nations. Consequently, it offers specialized knowledge and forward-looking insights that pave the way for Africa’s digital transformation journey.
