CALL FOR PROPOSALS OPEN FORUMS
Background
ID4Africa intends to run a series of Open Forums on Day 4 (June 18) of the 2027 AGM in Cape Town, South Africa. Designed to complement the AGM's Plenary Sessions on Days 1 and 2 and Symposiums on Day 3, the Open Forums will provide a participatory space in which a core group of attendees, referred to as Discussants, can actively exchange ideas, experiences and perspectives, and debate around a specific theme. Each Forum will be open to Observers who wish to follow the exchange without participating directly in the discussion. A total of 6 Open Forums are planned. Three sessions will run in parallel for 2.5 hours, followed by a second set of three parallel sessions, all taking place before lunch on Day 4, June 18. ID4Africa invites its Development Partners to submit proposals for these Open Forums.
The Concept
Each Open Forum will:
- Be led by the selected Development Partner.
- Be co-created with ID4Africa.
- Focus on a theme relevant to Africa’s digital transformation journey and digital ecosystems.
- Be facilitated as an interactive discussion and debate rather than a traditional panel or series of presentations.
- Encourage the exchange of diverse perspectives.
- Have a duration of 2.5 hours.
Each Open Forum will accommodate approximately 200 participants, including:
- Discussants – maximum 20: identified by the Development Partner with the support of ID4Africa and seated in a roundtable-style configuration at the head of the room.
- Observers – maximum 180: seated theatre-style in a dedicated spectator area and admitted on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to availability of seats.
Co-Creation
Selected Development Partners will work closely with ID4Africa to refine the theme, discussion format, participants and facilitation approach to create an engaging, balanced and inclusive Open Forum.
What to Submit
Proposals should include:
- The proposed Forum theme and its relevance to Africa.
- The principal questions or issues to be explored.
- The perspectives and types of Discussants the Forum should bring together.
