Lungile Jean Mkhonta is a well-seasoned Software Engineer with 18 years of experience in the IT space and extensive knowledge from working in both the public and private sector. Throughout her career, she has gained diverse experiences in different ministries within government including the Ministry of Home Affairs (Civil registration, Immigration, Refugees department); Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Trade (Registrar of Companies, Licensing department); and the Royal Eswatini Police where she has provided services that include, but not limited to, project management, applications development, and business intelligence. Ms. Mkhonta joined the civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS) team in 2014 when Eswatini embarked on a comprehensive country assessment and has been working with the multi-sectoral technical working group (TWG) to strengthen the country’s CRVS system since then. Amongst other responsibilities, the TWG has successfully embarked on the development and enhancement of data collection tools, system upgrades, and compilation of the annual CRVS report. Ms. Mkhonta has a professional training certificate in Business Analysis, and a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from the National Taipei University of Technology – Taiwan.
